Train the Trainer on Offsite Construction
Posted 20 June 2019
NOCN_Cskills Awards have teamed up with a number of other organisations to offer free 'Train the Trainer' courses to increase the number of instructors qualified to teach Off-site Construction.
The Construction Industry Training Board is undertaking a £1.2million project to increase the skills capacity in offsite manufacturing and construction which is revolutionising the way houses, schools and hospitals are built. As part of this project, the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Offsite Construction School and NOCN is developing a set of free high-quality training courses and materials to up-skill trainers in both education and industry in offsite manufacturing and construction.
Offsite construction is the manufacture and assembly of construction components ahead of installation on-site. CITB research has shown that offsite or modular construction can increase productivity, and reduce timescales and build costs compared with traditional methods, with nearly half of employers expecting to use offsite techniques within the next five years.
The projects will be pioneering a collaborative approach involving employers, providers, contractors and leading innovation organisations that will bring new, free, innovative training materials and courses to industry.
As part of this project, the MTC is inviting learning providers to attend a one day workshop to learn more about the MTC, the project and to participate in workshops that will guide the direction of the project. Register for the workshop here.
