NOCN Job Cards and CISRS launch ‘new generation’ online safety test for scaffolding industry
Posted 4 June 2024
NOCN Job Cards is working in partnership with the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) to provide a ‘new generation’ online Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Test to the scaffolding industry from June 2024.
The new online test covers the essential aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental practices required for scaffolding operatives applying for a CISRS card. It includes high quality, neurodiverse eLearning content with an accompanying voiceover which the operative can work through online prior to taking the test. There will be no separate revision material to purchase and the combined cost of the eLearning modules and the test is just £22.
National Access & Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) President David Brown of IBN Scaffold Access Ltd, said “I think this is a real win for the scaffolding sector. The operatives can now achieve an industry recognised H&S test on their own terms. The flexibility it offers by being online means people can learn at their own pace, whenever and wherever is convenient without the need to travel to a test centre. This is a very positive move, the sooner it goes live the better.”
NOCN Job Cards is part of NOCN Group, a leading skills solutions provider to the construction and other sectors for more than 30 years. Its online HS&E Test was originally designed for the construction plant sector as a requirement for obtaining and renewing Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) cards. The test has undergone a number of recent upgrades including the ability to now provide instant results, viewable on the NOCN Job Cards online Card Checker.
Carl Hassell, Group Director at NOCN Job Cards, says: “We’re excited to expand our online Health, Safety and Environment test out to the scaffolding industry via our close working relationship with CISRS, to enable its card holders to complete an industry-recognised assessment that is both accessible and affordable. The more efficiently and effectively skilled operatives can demonstrate their competency, the quicker they can get on-site and get the work done, which is good for the whole construction industry and the wider UK economy.”
Dave Mosley, CISRS Managing Director, added: “NOCN Job Cards administers the CISRS card scheme on our behalf so we have a very close working relationship with them. They previously introduced a very similar H&S test for the construction plant sector which has proven to be very popular and we are confident that this can be equally successful for scaffolding.”
The NOCN Job Cards team will be delivering webinars and meeting with CISRS-approved Training Providers and the wider scaffolding industry in the coming weeks to share information about the new online test which is due to go live from Monday 18th June 2024.
Further information on how to book a test will be available soon from both the CISRS and NOCN Job Cards websites.
